That one conversation with my neighbor changed how I handle SSDI paperwork
Last month I was out on my porch after work, still had dust on me from a re-roof job in Bakersfield. My neighbor Carol came over and we got talking about how long it takes to get approved for disability in California. She told me she waited 14 months for her hearing and then the judge asked for one more medical report. She said the key was having a doctor who actually wrote down specific things like how many minutes she can stand. I never thought about asking my doctor to put exact time limits on my limitations before. Has anyone else had their lawyer tell them to get really specific numbers from their doctor?

That whole thing about getting specific numbers is exactly what I was wondering about. Lots of people just say 'my back hurts' and leave it at that, but how does a judge really know what that means? So did you ask your doctor for those exact numbers after talking to Carol, or are you still waiting to bring it up? Seems like the lawyers should be telling everyone this up front instead of people finding out by accident on their porch.

My buddy asked his doc for range of motion numbers after his lawyer told him to lol.
