Vent: my new tent zipper failed on day 2 of a week-long trip
I bought a four-person tent from a big box store last month for a trip up to Lake Tahoe. On the second night, the main zipper got stuck halfway down and I couldn't get it open or closed without forcing it. Ended up using duct tape to keep the flap shut for the rest of the week. Has anyone else had zipper problems with newer tents, or did I just get a bad one?

You said "big box store", but was it one of their cheap house brand tents or a name brand one?

Man I grabbed a Coleman from Walmart like 4 years ago and it's still going strong. Not the cheapest one they had but like the mid range Sundome model. Took it camping maybe 15 times now, some trips with decent rain and wind, never had a leak or a pole snap. The key is to set it up right and put a tarp underneath it. Honestly the big box store stuff ain't always terrible if you pick the right brand and dont go for the absolute bottom shelf. Just my experience though.
