Had to pick between a promotion with more travel or staying put for a project I started

My boss offered me a team lead spot that would have me flying to Dallas twice a month. The other choice was to keep my current role and see through a big software rollout I helped design. I chose to stay for the project, which wrapped up last quarter. It went well and the client gave us a great review, but now I'm wondering if I missed a key move up. Has anyone else turned down a promotion for a specific piece of work?

Right? I spent months picking between two colleges and still wonder if the other one would have been better. Like, what if I'd taken that job offer in another city instead of staying here? My brain loves to replay those choices on a loop.

Does the second-guessing ever actually help you make better choices now, or is it just mental noise? I get stuck in those loops too, but they never seem to fix anything. Maybe we just need to accept the choice we made and move on.
