TIL a recruiter told me to stop putting my GPA on my resume after 2 years out of school
I was at a job fair in Columbus last month and a recruiter from a mid-size company told me flat out that she skips over resumes with GPAs once someone has been working for 2 years. She said it makes people look like they never left school and it takes up space that could go to actual work results. I have had my 3.4 on there since I graduated in 2023 and honestly never thought twice about it. Now I am trying to figure out if I should swap it for a line about the 2 projects I led at my current job or just cut it and leave the space empty. Has anyone else gotten this kind of feedback, and did taking it off actually change your callback rate?
That line about looking like you never left school is funny because my sister got told the opposite at a fair once, the guy wanted the GPA even with 5 years of work. It seems like it just comes down to whoever is reading the stack that day.
