Yeah @drew906 probably has it right but have you checked if your foundation is still settling?

Oh, the joys of old house geometry. I'm pretty sure nothing in my place has been square since like 1942.

What did you end up doing? I just used a ton of shims when I put in new shelves, it kinda worked.
