Took 3 weeks to sort out a title issue from the 90s on a refi that should've closed in 10 days

The bank flagged an old lien release that was apparently never filed and I spent 14 hours on hold with the county recorder's office just to get a copy of a document from 1993, has anyone else had old title problems pop up out of nowhere like that?

Good heavens, three weeks and that much time on hold for a document from 30 years ago? Seems like a lot of fuss over something that probably has zero bearing on your current situation. Maybe the title company was just covering their bases and it wasn't really that urgent in the first place.

Not to pile on, but you're kind of right about that - a buddy of mine waited a month for a similar old document, only to find out the county clerk's office had lost it years ago anyway. He spent all that time chasing ghosts, and in the end the title company just used a different form. Makes you wonder who really benefits from all that waiting around.
