TIL buying cheap sheet pans is a total waste of cash
I spent $15 on three nonstick sheet pans from the grocery store 6 months ago. They warped so bad after 2 uses that oil pools in one corner and cakes burn unevenly. Just dropped $60 on two proper aluminum ones from a restaurant supply place. Has anyone else dealt with pans that won't lay flat on the rack?
Didn't I see a Youtube video where some chef said warped pans are from cheap metal and too much heat? Sounds like you learned that lesson the hard way like the rest of us.
oh man @terryallen you're totally right, that chef was spot on. I actually did that with an old nonstick pan cranked the heat too high and it was never flat again, just spun like a top on the stove. now I always start low and let it warm up slow, cheap pans can't take the shock.
