Wasted $200 on a fancy mandoline I never use.

Bought a $200 Japanese mandoline last year. Thought it would make prep faster. Now it sits in the drawer. I still use my old $15 one from the restaurant supply store. Anyone else buy expensive gear that just collects dust?

My $75 Oxo one ended up in the back of the cabinet too. I finally sold it on Craigslist for like $40 and just bought a cheap Kyocera for $12, honestly works way better for everything I actually make.

Oh man, that Kyocera thing is exactly what my buddy Sarah did! She had some fancy mandoline she bought on a whim and it sat in her pantry for like 2 years before she finally gave up on it. She gave it to her sister who also never used it. Then she went back to using her old hand me down plastic one that her mom gave her forever ago. Some stuff just doesn't need to be fancy I guess.

My $60 Oxo one collects dust too, I think it's just a pattern of wanting to solve a problem that wasn't really there in the first place.
