Appreciation post: I thought those new flexible camera rods were just a gimmick until I saw one find a major flue blockage in a 1920s house last month.

The homeowner in Albany was ready to tear down a wall thinking the draft issue was structural, but a quick scan with the camera showed a collapsed brick liner about 15 feet up, saving them a huge repair bill, so has anyone else had a tool they doubted completely change a job?

My old boss bought one of those cameras and I made fun of him for a week. I ate my words when we found a dead squirrel in a vent the very next day.

Man, that's the worst kind of luck to prove you wrong. I feel for you, @jamie130, because I would have made fun of my boss too. It's just one of those things you never expect to actually need. Then bam, dead squirrel in the vent and you're standing there looking dumb. That's a pretty solid argument for having one of those cameras, even if it hurts to admit it.

Guess the squirrel was the one who really needed that inspection.
