My uncle told me to always check the damper first on a tough cleanout

He said a lot of new sweeps forget and waste time fighting a blockage that's just a stuck part. I didn't listen on a job in Boise last fall, spent an hour trying to clear what felt like a major creosote plug. Finally checked the damper and it was just seized shut. A quick spray of lubricant and it opened right up. I could have saved fifty minutes if I'd just started there. Anyone have a go-to product for freeing up a rusty damper?

Try PB Blaster, works every time.

Had a seized caliper bolt on my old Ford Ranger last year. Soaked it in PB Blaster for two full days, hitting it twice a day. Came right out without a fight. That stuff really does creep into the threads. Just gotta give it enough time to work.

PB Blaster can be a real letdown on truly rusted stuff though. Sometimes that bolt is just too far gone, and all the soaking does is make a mess. Ended up having to drill out a bracket on my neighbor's truck after the penetrant did nothing.
