The solar panel guy in Arizona showed me my biggest mistake
He came out to clean my panels and pointed out all the shading from that one tree I ignored when I installed them 2 years ago. Lost about 40% of my generation on the east side the whole time. Has anyone else discovered a dumb oversight way later than they should have?

Oh man, that stings. I've noticed people do this all the time with anything new they get into - they get so excited about the main thing that they overlook the boring details that end up costing them. You see it with solar panels, sure, but also with people who buy a house and skip the inspection, or start a garden and plant everything in full shade because they were too focused on the pretty flowers at the nursery. The tree was probably right there the whole time, but you just didn't look at it the same way until someone pointed it out. It's like we all have blindspots for the obvious stuff right in front of us until an expert comes along and shoves our face in it.

Yeah but planting in full shade isn't always a mistake, some stuff actually likes it.

Yeah I've definitely been that guy... bought this fancy hydrangea once and stuck it in full sun because I thought "more light = more better" and it just turned into a crispy brown memorial.
