Vent: The old shop I worked at in Cleveland just got rid of its last manual mill

Three years ago, we had a whole row of them for quick one-offs and repairs. Last month, they sold off half of them to make room for another 5-axis machine. Now the final Bridgeport is gone, and the whole feel of the place is different. Anyone else's shop go full CNC and lose that hands-on corner?

Yeah but that "feel" you're talking about is the sound of money being left on the table. A 5-axis can do in one setup what takes a whole day of moving parts between manual machines. It's a shop, not a museum. Keeping a Bridgeport for the vibe is a luxury most places just can't afford anymore.
