Blew $80 on a fancy burr grinder that couldn't do espresso
I bought a so-called 'espresso capable' burr grinder off a popular online shop for $80 last month, thinking I was saving cash. First shot clogged the machine because the grind was way too coarse even on the finest setting. I spent three weekends trying to dial it in, and it never got fine enough for real espresso. Finally gave up and bought a manual hand grinder for $60 that works perfectly. Has anyone else gotten burned by budget grinders that just don't deliver on their promises?

Used to think you could get a decent espresso grinder for cheap but that grinder proved me dead wrong.

Yeah "proved me dead wrong" is exactly how I feel now. I was one of those people who thought you could just grab a cheap burr grinder and call it good for espresso. Then I tried pulling shots with a $60 grinder and ended up with either turbo shots or nothing coming out because the fines clogged everything up. Spent the money on a proper one later and realized I should've just listened from the start.
