Finally got my pour over timing right with one weird trick
I kept getting bitter coffee from my pour over for like 6 months. Tried changing grind size, water temp, everything. Then last week I realized I was pouring water way too fast. Slowed down to a 30 second bloom and then 3 separate pours instead of one big one. Made a huge difference in taste. Now my morning cup actually tastes sweet instead of burnt. Has anyone else had this issue with pour over timing?

@dakotacraig yeah that sounds rough, but you're not alone. Have you tried pulsing your pours instead of just counting them? I started doing a 45 second bloom with 5 smaller pours after that and it totally fixed the bitter flavor for me.

Oh man, I feel your pain... I had the exact same issue for months and just assumed my taste buds were broken or something. Pretty sure my first pour over tasted like I brewed it with cigarette ash, so you're way ahead of where I started.
