I just found out how much coffee a big city drinks in a day

I was reading about Seattle's coffee scene and saw that the city uses something like 40,000 pounds of coffee beans every single day. That's a crazy number to think about. Has anyone else come across a fact about coffee use that surprised them?

My office alone goes through 50 pounds a week.

Fifty pounds a week sounds wild but honestly I believe it lol. My neighbor works at a law firm and she says their break room has five different coffee machines running from 7am to 5pm nonstop. I've seen the trash bags they haul out and it's just a solid mass of used pods and grounds. It makes me wonder how many pounds the whole city goes through in a single day. That's a lot of plastic and paper waste just to stay awake through meetings.

Believe it, my apartment building's trash is just a tower of empty coffee bags.
