Question about a coffee shop in Portland that changed my pour-over game
I was at a small spot called Upper Left Roasters about 6 months ago and saw the barista use a scale for her pour-over. She explained she was hitting exact water weight, not just eyeballing it. I'd always just used a scoop of grounds and filled my kettle. Bought a cheap $25 scale that weekend and my morning cup is way more consistent now. Anyone else switch to weighing after seeing it done somewhere?

Honestly, the real game changer was realizing how much my tap water's hardness was messing with the flavor. The scale helped, but fixing the water was the next step.

Doubt it makes that big a difference for most people. My tap water tastes fine and my coffee is good. Feels like chasing tiny gains.
