I just counted my comic book collection and it's over 2,000 single issues

I was sorting my long boxes in my garage last weekend and decided to finally add everything up, which took hours. The total hit 2,047, which is way more than I thought I had after collecting since middle school. Has anyone else been shocked by their own collection size?

Got me thinking about what a collection really is. I stopped counting single issues years ago because the number felt meaningless. I'd rather have one complete run of something I love, like Claremont's X-Men, than boxes of random #1s I'll never read again. The hunt for that next key issue matters more to me than the total count. Do you find yourself chasing specific stories or just grabbing whatever looks cool?

That's a serious library. I'd be scared to do the math on what I've spent over the years.
