Tried a full-face band mask on a 60-foot harbor inspection last week and almost lost comms entirely

The silicone skirt kept pinching against my drysuit hood and made my voice sound like I was talking through a pillow, has anyone else had that issue with certain mask brands?

My buddy Jim had a similar problem on a 90-foot wreck dive last month, his Oceanic mask seal kept bubbling up around the hood and he said it sounded like he was gargling underwater. He finally switched to a silicone neck dam and it fixed the voice distortion but now he has to deal with the neck dam rolling up on him.

90 feet is actually pretty shallow for that kind of mask issue, sounds like his hood fit is the real problem there. Neck dams are just a bandaid and honestly create more trouble than they solve.
