Thought those plastic cutting board mats were a gimmick until I saw a sushi place in Portland use them.

They had a stack of maybe 20 different colors, one for each type of fish. The chef said it cut their board cleaning time in half during a busy Saturday night. Do you guys use a system like that, or is it more trouble than it's worth?

Honestly my friend got one and, like wade_perrez said, the trash pile was shocking after just a week.

My friend's neighbor filled two whole recycling bins with just the plastic pods from their first month. Two bins. That's not just a bit of extra trash, that's a whole new chore just to deal with the packaging. It completely defeats the purpose of something that's supposed to make life easier.
