Organized a neighborhood food drive last month and learned the hard way about expiration dates
I set up a collection point at my house in Arlington for a local pantry. After 2 weeks I had about 8 boxes of stuff. When I dropped it off the volunteer sorted through and pulled out like 30 items that were past their date. Felt awful honestly. I never even thought to check. She told me most drives end up with 10-15% waste from expired stuff. Has anyone else run into this? Do you just toss expired stuff or is there a place that takes near-expired items?

Did the pantry give you a list of what they actually need?

@keith264 probably has a list of things I should have checked before the drive (like expiration dates).
