Just read that the Hoover Dam used over 3.25 million cubic yards of concrete.
Found it in an old engineering book at the library. That's a staggering amount to think about placing and finishing, even with the methods they had back then. Ever work on a pour that made you feel tiny by comparison?

Ever see a pour that just makes you feel like an ant? I was on a site for a hospital foundation slab, maybe a tenth of that scale, and it still felt huge. Watching those trucks roll in nonstop for two days straight, the whole crew just a tiny part of this massive machine. Honestly it makes you respect the guys who did that dam work on a whole other level.

My buddy watched a bridge pour for twelve hours straight last summer.

Notice how even small projects can make you feel tiny compared to the whole.
