inGot told my star trails were 'too busy' in a critique last month
Yeah, that "wild curves sweeping past" idea from the elliot is cool. Parker_cooper57 is onto something with aiming off-center, but what if you just pointed at a really dim patch of sky? No bright stars at all. You'd get these super long, slow lines from the faint ones, almost like a time-lapse of the dark itself. It's way less busy because there's no star fighting to be the main subject.

inJust read that the Hoover Dam used over 3.25 million cubic yards of concrete.
Ever see a pour that just makes you feel like an ant? I was on a site for a hospital foundation slab, maybe a tenth of that scale, and it still felt huge. Watching those trucks roll in nonstop for two days straight, the whole crew just a tiny part of this massive machine. Honestly it makes you respect the guys who did that dam work on a whole other level.

inThat time my first real program crashed my laptop for a full hour
Come on @the_elliot, that's just a lab machine getting a little warm. Those old systems were built to handle stress tests. A simple infinite loop shouldn't crash anything modern. It's more likely someone panicked and hit the power button early. These stories get exaggerated over time. A forced reboot was probably overkill for a student's coding mistake.

inA neighbor's trick for cheaper chicken soup
Just a heads up, onion skins can make broth bitter. The papery outer layers, I mean. I stick to the peels from yellow onions, the thicker ones.
