My uncle swore by using a garden sprayer for curing and I thought he was nuts
Honestly, he told me this about five years ago when I was helping him with a driveway in Spokane. He said to fill a clean garden sprayer with water and just mist the slab a few times a day instead of using burlap or plastic. I thought it sounded cheap and wouldn't work right. Ngl, I kept using plastic sheets for ages and kept fighting with them blowing away. Last month, I tried his way on a small patio job just to see. Used a basic 2-gallon sprayer from the hardware store. It was way easier to control, no plastic waste, and the cure was super even with no cracks. I feel dumb for not listening sooner. Has anyone else tried something like this, or is there a downside I'm not seeing yet?

Your uncle was mostly right, but misting a few times a day might not be enough in hot, dry weather. The goal is to keep the surface damp constantly for days. If it dries out between sprays, you can still get surface cracks.

But like, is it actually that big of a deal? A few cracks on the surface never killed anyone.

Maybe not, but those cracks can let water in and wreck the whole slab from the inside.
