Walked a driveway last week that was only 3 months old
Cracked all to hell already. No control joints. Homeowner said the guy told him they looked ugly. Has anyone else had to rip out fresh work like that?

What was the guy thinking, that control joints are some kind of fashion accessory? lol That's like saying a roof looks ugly so you skip the shingles. I bet that homeowner is real proud of his "smooth" driveway while it's crumbling into a puzzle piece nightmare. Bet the guy also said you don't need rebar in concrete because it ruins the look. Hope the homeowner saved that "it's ugly" line for when they have to tear it all out and start over.

Honestly, I get what you're saying but is it really that deep? A lot of homeowners just don't know any better and the contractor probably just wanted an easy paycheck without explaining anything. Tbh, if the driveway lasts a few years before cracking, most people just move on and forget about it.

Heard a buddy of mine say the same thing @casey393, then watched his neighbor's driveway crack in six months.
