Drove through Lordsburg, NM and every single business had the same camera setup

I was passing through on I-10 last Tuesday, stopped for gas. Noticed the station had those new pole cameras with the little red blinking light, fine. But then I grabbed food across the street and saw the exact same model, same angle, same height. Then the motel next door. Same thing. Three separate owners, three separate businesses, but someone installed all of them the same week. Called a buddy who works security, he said that pattern shows up in places where a single contractor does bulk installs for data collection, not theft prevention. Asked the gas clerk about it, he just shrugged and said "the county paid for them." County paid for private business cameras? That's not normal. Anyone else spot identical camera rigs lining a whole town?

Wait, why would the county pay for cameras on private property unless they're getting something out of it? That's the part that bugs me. If it was just about crime, the businesses would've paid for their own setups. The fact that it's all identical and installed at the same time screams data harvest, not safety. Your buddy's right about the contractor thing, but who's buying that data and what are they doing with it? I've seen this in a few small towns off the interstate now, always the same white boxes with the red light. It's like someone's mapping every stop along the highway, and that ain't cool. More people need to pay attention to this before it's everywhere.
