The CDC data on vaccine injuries got quietly updated last month
I was digging through the VAERS database for a project at work and noticed something odd. The total number of reported adverse events for 2023 jumped up by about 14,000 cases compared to what they had posted in January. I checked three times because I thought my filter was broken. Turns out the CDC added a bunch of delayed reports from prior months all at once. They didn't put out any press release or notice about it. I found this out just by comparing the raw CSV files between February and March downloads. Has anyone else noticed these lump sum additions in the public data?

My background in data auditing taught me to always keep copies of public datasets from different dates. The missing cases often show up in bulk updates like this because the system accepts late filings without any batch control flags. You should file a formal query through their data request portal, it gets logged and usually forces someone to write an explanation.

Those 14,000 late reports feel like the grocery store quietly raising prices on things nobody checks.
