A client told me my highlights looked 'too stripey' and I was mad at first
About three years ago a woman in her 60s sat in my chair and said my foils were giving her these big chunky stripes. I wanted to argue because that's how I learned back in 2005. But I took a step back and looked at her hair in the mirror from the front instead of my angle. She was right. The sections were too thick and the weave was too wide. I changed to using thinner sections and a finer weave pattern. Has anyone else had to unlearn an old technique because a customer called you out on it?

Those chunky streaks were cool in 2005 but yeah they look pretty dated now. Nothing like a 60 year old woman being brutally honest to humble you real quick. Glad you listened because the fine weave really does make a world of difference.

Wait, she actually took advice from a 60 year old without getting defensive first?... @mia52 that's wild, most people would've doubled down on the chunky streaks just out of spite.
