I read that most crane accidents aren't from gear failure, and it made me rethink a lot

Found a safety report from the NCCCO that said over 80% of incidents are due to human error, like bad communication or planning. I always thought equipment checks were the main thing, but this shows we need to focus more on the crew talk before the lift. Anyone else shift their safety focus after seeing a stat like that?

That 80% human error stat from the NCCCO is wild. It makes sense that planning and talk are the weak link, not the steel. Really changes how you look at a job site.

Jessica902 is right, that stat makes you realize the crew talk is EVERYTHING.

Honestly, you're not wrong at all. Have you tried doing a quick 5-minute huddle before the lift, just going over who's doing what? I used to skip that part, thinking we all knew the plan, but after one close call we started doing it every single time and it fixed like half our communication problems. It's crazy how much smoother stuff goes when everyone's on the same page from the start. Tbh that stat makes me want to sit down with my whole crew and talk about how we talk.
