That 3-day windstorm in Kansas City nearly flipped us twice

Last October we ran a 150-ton through a 45 mph gust window and the load started swinging like a pendulum, took both tag lines and a spotter to settle it before the foreman yelled enough. Has anyone else had to shut down a lift mid-swing because the weather service was just too slow on the warnings?

Your "load started swinging like a pendulum" line is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. The weather service gave you a window, you took it, and the load moved exactly like physics says it will. That's not a slow warning, that's a bad call on your end. If you can't handle 45 mph with tag lines and a spotter, maybe that lift was over your crew's skill level. I've seen guys run 200-ton loads in worse wind because they actually knew how to rig and position the crane. The foreman yelling is just him covering for his own bad planning.
