Just realized something about prompts while stuck at the airport in Denver

My flight was delayed for 6 hours, so I started writing down overheard conversations as quick story starters. 'I told him the parrot stays' from a couple arguing was way more useful than my usual overthought ideas. What's the best random line you've turned into a full scene?

Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say, "She left the map but took the compass." That one sentence built a whole breakup story in my head about direction and what you really need to leave behind.

Ever get a line from a song stuck in your head that writes the whole plot? I heard "she's a rainbow with a pocketknife" in some folk song once. It gave me this whole character, a cheerful person who was secretly the best at cutting through bad situations. Those little phrases you don't even look for can do all the heavy lifting.
