Fresh techs relying on screens instead of their hands is a problem
In my shop, I watch new hires dive straight into the diagnostic computer for every little hiccup. They ignore simple stuff like checking for fuel leaks or feeling for play in the belts. Just yesterday, a guy spent an hour chasing an electrical ghost when it was just a corroded ground wire. We need to push back on this lazy trend before the skill fades away completely.

Yeah, "check the simple stuff first" is the whole story. I see this everywhere, people jump to the most complicated fix before looking at what's right in front of them. It's like a weird instinct to make things harder than they need to be. That corroded ground is a perfect example of the obvious thing getting overlooked.
