Just lost a full day's pay on a 'rebuilt' injection pump

Got a deal on a reman Denso pump for a 6.7 Powerstroke, guy swore it was bench tested. Put it in, truck ran like garbage and blew smoke. Tore it back down, the damn thing had a worn out cam ring from the start. That's $450 and eight hours I'm never getting back. Anyone know a good source for actual quality reman parts, not just cleaned up junk?

Tell me about it, got burned the same way last year. Bought a "rebuilt" alternator that was just a dirty unit with a new sticker slapped on. Lasted maybe three weeks before it cooked itself. Felt like such a sucker. The whole reman market is full of people just cleaning parts and calling it good.

Saw a thread on a diesel forum about this exact thing. They were saying a lot of the "reman" pumps out there are just spray painted and have the same old worn internals. Total gamble.
