I ran into a guy at a coffee shop near the old city who had been traveling for 12 years straight. He told me he only carries a 25-liter backpack and uses a mesh bag for laundry instead of packing extra clothes. How do you decide what to leave behind when you're starting out?

Read a thing where a long term traveler said they pack for the worst 3 days and buy the rest on the road. Sounds wild but makes sense if you think about it.
