Trying to join a client call from a beach in Bali was a mistake
My laptop screen was completely unreadable in the noon sun, and I had to give a presentation while squatting under a vendor's umbrella, using my phone as a hotspot. Has anyone else found a good portable sunshade that actually works?

Okay but "had to give a presentation" is doing a lot of work here. I mean, was it really a have-to situation? Couldn't you just say the wifi was bad or move the call? It feels like a choice to do it from the beach at noon. Maybe it's just me but that whole scene sounds like a problem you could have avoided pretty easily.

Calling it "a choice" misses how some jobs really do need you online no matter where you are.

I was on a team call last year where someone tried to present from a cafe and the audio was just wind and espresso machines. Parker_harris14 has a point about planning. If you know you have a key meeting at noon, setting up somewhere quiet is just part of being ready. It often is a choice, not an emergency. Making your coworkers listen to waves crashing while you talk about quarterly reports is a bit unfair.
