Debating between a clear shell swap or a full paint job for my Switch OLED

I picked up a beat up Switch OLED for $150 last month and now I'm torn on the reshell. I really like the idea of a clear atomic purple shell to show off the internals, but I keep worrying about scratches showing up after a few weeks. A buddy of mine painted his Joy-Cons with SprayMax 2K and they look great after 6 months, but he says the prep work took forever. Has anyone here done both and regretted one more than the other?

Atomic purple every time, real scratches just add character.

The thing nobody talks about with clear shells is how they amplify any dust or debris that gets trapped during the install. I did a clear blue shell on my old Lite and had a tiny piece of lint stuck under the backplate that drove me crazy every time I looked at it. Paint hides that stuff completely. Also, with the OLED model you lose the nice black bezel contrast if you go clear - the screen kind of just bleeds into everything visually.
