Watched my bathroom ceiling go from stained to spotless after 2 coats of stain-blocking primer

I thought Kilz was just a gimmick but after scrubbing that yellow water mark three times with bleach and it still showing through, one coat of the primer hid it completely so I did a second for good measure and now I'm wondering why I didn't try this back in March, anyone else been burned by trusting regular paint over a ceiling leak spot?
