My old tablet was so slow I thought it was done, but a factory reset made it like new

I was about to throw out my 5 year old tablet because it took a full minute just to open an app. I found a guide online that said a factory reset could help, but I was sure it wouldn't. I backed up my photos and did it anyway last weekend. It booted up faster than it did when I bought it! Has anyone else been shocked by how well a simple reset works on old gadgets?

Man, I feel that so hard. My last phone got to the point where typing a text felt like watching paint dry. I was totally convinced the battery was shot and the processor was just done for. Doing a reset felt like a last ditch move before recycling it, but it was like getting a whole different device back. It's crazy what all the built up cache and background updates do over the years.

You said it booted up faster than when you bought it, but that's probably just how it feels. A factory reset clears out all the junk software and data that slows it down, but it can't make the old hardware any faster than it was on day one. It just gets back to that original speed, which feels amazing after years of lag. What apps did you put back on it first?

Yeah, that feeling of it being faster is totally real, even if it's just back to normal. It's like when you clean a really dirty window and the whole world looks brighter, you know? You're so used to the slowdown that the original speed feels like a huge upgrade. What did you load back on, just the basics or did you go all in?
