My old way of cleaning laptop fans with a vacuum was making things worse. Switched to using a $15 can of compressed air last year.

Oh man, you're totally right about that false economy trap. It's like buying the cheapest garbage bags that rip every time you take out the trash - you end up using three of them instead of one good one. I remember trying to clean my laptop with a vacuum and just pushing dust deeper into the fan assembly, basically embedding it in there like it was glued on. Then I spent way more on a can of compressed air and a little brush kit to undo the mess I made. Sometimes the "cheap fix" just sets you up for a bigger headache later, you know?

Ever notice how the cheap fix often costs more later? You save a few bucks on the wrong tool, then pay for the real solution after the damage is done. That vacuum trick is a perfect example of a false economy.
