Picked iFixit over a generic fix kit for my busted laptop screen
I dropped my ThinkPad last Tuesday and cracked the display. Had to choose between a $25 generic kit on Amazon and a $45 iFixit kit with the proper screwdrivers and suction cups. I went with iFixit because I've had cheap tools strip screws before lol. The guide was super clear and I got the whole swap done in about 90 minutes. Have you guys tried the generic kits or do you stick to brand name fix stuff?

Have you thought about how the generic kit tools might not fit the specific screws on a ThinkPad? Those little star bits are finicky and the wrong size can round them off quick. Saved myself a headache once by paying a bit more for the right fit.

Yeah my buddy stripped a screw on his X1 carbon with a cheap bit. Had to drill it out.

Wait did you check if the iFixit kit actually had the right size torx bits for all the screws inside? I found on some ThinkPad models the bezel clips are way tighter than others and if your suction cup isn't strong enough you end up flexing the whole lid. How did you handle the adhesive on the new screen without it sticking crooked? I always mess that part up and end up with gaps.
