Finally got my workbench top flat after 3 tries

Built a new bench from 2x4s and plywood last month but the top had a 1/4 inch wobble. Tried shimming the legs but that only helped some. Got the idea from a YouTube comment to soak the low spots with water and clamp a straight 2x6 across it overnight. Came back the next morning and it was dead flat. Cost me nothing and saved me from having to build a whole new top. Has anyone else tried the water trick on plywood or am I just lucky?

You soaked your workbench top with water and hoped it would flatten out overnight? That's wild. I've never heard of anyone doing that to plywood before, honestly kinda impressive it worked.

The 2x4s I used for my shelf project ended up looking like a potato chip after I tried that trick... never again. I guess plywood's different than solid wood though, more stable or whatever. Still feels like a gamble I wouldn't take on something that needs to be flat.
