Bought a fancy 3D mouse for $400 thinking it would change everything.

Used it for about two weeks on a big piping layout project and honestly, my old keyboard shortcuts were just faster. It's sitting in a drawer now, collecting dust. Anyone have a good use for these things or should I just try to sell it?

Those mice are great for some tasks, but they're not a magic fix. They really shine for detailed sculpting in programs like ZBrush, or for navigating complex assemblies in CAD. For piping layouts, you're probably just moving between standard views, which keyboard shortcuts handle faster.

My old roommate used one for editing drone footage... swore it saved his wrist.

My buddy at an animation studio swears by his for camera work in Maya. He says the radial menus save him from digging through layers of hotkeys. Makes me wonder if the real benefit is just cutting down on menu clutter, not the 3D control itself.
