My old HP T730 plotter finally gave out after 8 years
It started making this awful grinding noise halfway through a big set of C-size prints for a Denver client. I had to finish the job by sending the files to a local print shop, which cost me $200 and a full day's delay. What do you guys do for a backup when your main plotter dies on a deadline?

Eight years is a good run... but that grinding noise is the worst. Did you ever have a backup plotter lined up, or was this the first time it totally failed on you?

I used to think a backup was a waste until my Epson died during a Friday rush. Now I keep an old refurbished HP in the closet just for emergencies.

That "closet just for emergencies" move saved me last year. My main printer died right before a big deadline. Pulled out the old backup and finished the job, no stress.
