My crew in Mobile Bay last month split on using the old ladder bucket vs the new clam shell for a tight spot

We had to clear a narrow channel, maybe 30 feet wide, with old pilings on both sides. The foreman wanted the clam shell for its grip, but I argued the ladder bucket's swing was safer to avoid hitting anything. We tried the clam shell first and it took forever, about two days, because it kept catching on debris. Has anyone else faced a choice like this in a tight area?

Two days for a channel? That's insane.

Yeah "that's insane" is exactly what I said when I read about it. I saw a whole thread where people were talking about the crazy short deadlines some clients expect now. It's like they think making a good channel is just slapping a logo and banner together. There's strategy and setup that takes time if you want it to actually work. Rushing it usually means you have to go back and fix everything later anyway.
