Vent: Heard a guy at the supply house say his boss still uses a chalk line for every seam

I overheard this older drywaller telling his apprentice that a laser level is for "TV installers, not real finishers." But I started using a laser on my last two jobs and it cut my butt-joint work by about 20 minutes per room. Has anyone else made the switch or am I overthinking it?

Nah you're not overthinking it, this is the same thing I see everywhere with old school guys and new tools. Its like how my uncle still insists on hand mixing mud because the mixer "ruins the texture" even though nobody can tell the difference. Same way some framers won't use a nail gun for hangers, they gotta hand nail every single one because "that's how you know its done right." Meanwhile I'm saving 20 minutes a room and my seams look way cleaner than when I was guessing with a chalk line, so who's really winning here?

You ever see a guy spend 10 minutes setting up a laser level, @fisher.charlie, then still grab his bubble level "just to double check"? My cousin does that with his miter saw. Got a fancy digital one, still pulls out his speed square for every cut.
