Had a cart with a squeaky wheel that got worse every aisle until the store manager chased me down to apologize
I was just trying to grab a bag of dog food and some cereal on a Wednesday afternoon when this cart started sounding like a dying seagull with every step, and by the time I hit the checkout the manager actually ran over from the customer service desk all red-faced saying the cart guy was new and he'd fix it personally.

Hang on, a manager actually sprinted for a squeaky wheel? @tylermurray I've seen managers walk casually toward a customer who just got hit by a falling display, so the idea of someone running for a cart is wild to me. Maybe squeaky wheels really do get the grease around here.

Gotta love how a broken cart turns into a full on customer service emergency but the self checkout machines can be broken for months and nobody cares. I swear stores will send a manager sprinting across the floor for a squeaky wheel but you can't get anyone to fix the ice machine that's been dripping for two years. It's like they're only good at reacting to the small stuff while everything else just falls apart around them.

Do you think management is genuinely clueless about the bigger problems, or is it more that fixing a squeaky wheel gets them credit with customers while fixing a machine doesn't? Because I've seen stores where the same broken self-checkout lane sits roped off for six months with a sign that says "out of order." Makes you wonder if they just accept certain things will be broken and only fix stuff that actually makes noise.
