A lead mechanic in Atlanta told me to ignore a specific fault code on a G1000 system

Honestly, he said 'that's just a ghost, it'll clear on its own after fifty cycles' but I insisted on tracing the wiring and found a chafed conductor in the shaft. Anyone else refuse to just ignore a code without checking?

Used to trust those old hands until I found a real short the same way.

Oh man, I was the same way... always figured the old timers were just guessing. Then I saw a guy find a bad ground on a harness just by wiggling wires, exactly like charlesb89's phantom light deal. Totally changed how I look at those little hints now. Sometimes the simple trick is the right one.

Man, that reminds me of a phantom oil pressure light we chased for weeks.
