Warning: Those cheap plastic guide shoes are a fire hazard waiting to happen
I did a call last Tuesday at a 12-story building in downtown Cleveland and found a set of guide shoes that had melted half way through. The building super told me they swapped to plastic ones 6 months ago to save $200 on parts. Anyone else see these things failing under constant heavy load?

Switched to steel after finding a melted plastic shoe on a high rise job myself.
