Appreciation post: My aunt's 'crazy' trick for pie crust actually works
She swore by grating frozen butter into the flour instead of cutting it, and I thought it was a gimmick until I tried it last Thanksgiving. The crust was the flakiest I've ever made, no special tools needed. Has anyone else had a weird family tip that turned out to be a game changer?

My mom adds a splash of cold coffee to her chocolate cake batter.

Got a similar one from my grandma. She puts a whole ice cube in her meatloaf mix, says it keeps it from drying out. Sounds nuts but it actually works.

What's the point of grating butter? I used to think it was dumb but now my crust is perfect.
