My buddy Dave spent like forty bucks on one of those vacuum seal avocado keepers last year. He was so proud of it, showing it off in his fridge. He put half an avocado in there on a Tuesday, and by Thursday morning it was this weird gray mush with black spots. The thing smelled worse than his gym bag. He just uses plastic wrap and the pit now.

Yeah, @ivan597's buddy Dave proved the point. That "weird gray mush" line is exactly why I don't trust any of those gadgets. I mean, the pit and plastic wrap trick is free and it works way better. It's just another thing to wash that doesn't even do the one job it's for. Maybe it's just me but I feel like they design these things to fail so you buy more stuff.

It's the same with those single-use kitchen tools. My drawer is full of strawberry hullers and garlic peelers that just take up space. A knife and your hands do the same job faster. Companies keep selling us fixes for problems that don't exist. We end up with more junk and a thinner wallet.
