Had a hoof knife snap on me while trimming a draft horse last Friday

I was working on a big Percheron out near Salem, Oregon, and the tip of my main hoof knife just broke off clean. It happened when I hit a really hard spot of packed dirt and gravel in the frog. I had to finish the job with my backup knife, which was not as sharp. Has anyone else had a good brand hold up better under that kind of pressure?
